Twenty is a twenty-year-old boy who lives in a university dorm room filled with books, journals, and memories he refuses to let go of. He is afraid of mirrors and carries the weight of an abandoned childhood. Every month, he buys a new book, writes the name of a woman he secretly likes, draws a picture of her, and hides it inside the book. He follows her from a distance, watches her quietly, and tries to understand her habits. For Twenty, love is something safer to imagine than to experience. He releases his pain on hilltops and in palm forests, finding a strange connection with the trees and the cactus in his room. One day, while waiting for her at the station platform where he sits every day, strange figures begin to enter his life: a mysterious man who claims to know everyone’s hidden pain, an abandoned child waiting for his mother, and a young woman waiting for a train to end her life. Their presence slowly inspires Twenty to confront his fears. Through dreams and the things he observes around him, Twenty slowly realizes that his obsession is not really about the woman. It is about his inability to face himself. Set around railway tracks, libraries, hilltops, forests, and empty rooms, Twenty is a five-chapter coming-of-age drama about loneliness, longing, confrontation, release, and the courage it takes to stop hiding from ourselves, accept change, and heal a scar. It explores how healing begins only when one learns to confront their own reflection.
Réalisation
Ruhani Mahmud Monon Goni is a University student and an emerging Bangladeshi filmmaker whose experimental films explore personal narratives and emotional vulnerability. His films have been officially selected at multiple international festivals. Since he primarily works with limited resources and filmmaking tools, he focuses on stories that deal with compassion, empathy, inner conflict, and transformation. Monon aims to expand his filmmaking journey through advanced study and hands-on experiences to develop emotionally grounded stories.
