Film soumis au OnShow International Film Festival 2026Synopsis
Taqsim, a food content creator, knows exactly how he wants to be seen on social media. Through carefully choreographed cooking videos, he turns his kitchen rituals and body into objects of desire. But as online attention grows increasingly intimate, the boundary between performance and self-image begins to fracture. Drawn between the safety of control and the thrill of being watched, Taqsim confronts a reflection that may know him better than he knows himself. Medium Rare is an experimental psychological short about masculinity, queer desire, online spectatorship, and the uneasy distance between being seen and being consumed.
Réalisation
Tejaswi Subramanian is an Indian filmmaker, writer and cultural strategist whose work explores queer desire, identity, intimacy and the politics of being seen. Working across film, media and narrative-led storytelling, they are interested in the contradictions that shape how people understand themselves and perform for others. Their filmmaking draws on queer perspectives, psychological tension and visual experimentation to examine how bodies, relationships and identities are shaped by the worlds around them. Their short film Medium Rare explores masculinity, online desire and self-objectification through the world of a food content creator whose carefully controlled online persona begins to fracture under the gaze of his audience.
