Synopsis

RANGASTHALAM Synopsis In a rural Andhra village of the 1980s, Sundaram, a passionate stage actor, lives for theatre. Proud of his craft and deeply attached to the stage, he finds himself caught between a fading theatrical tradition and the growing influence of cinema. As the world around him changes, Sundaram is forced to confront what his art means to him—and what he is willing to lose to remain true to it.

Director

About the Director Vishwanath Prathap is a Indian filmmaker and writer with a passion for character-driven stories that blend emotion, humour and strong visual storytelling. His work explores ordinary people, their relationships and the worlds they live in. Rangasthalam is one of his projects as a writer-director. Director's Statement Rangasthalam comes from my love for theatre and the people who dedicate their lives to it. Set in the 1980s, the film looks at a time when traditional stage performances were slowly facing competition from cinema. Through Sundaram, I wanted to explore an artist's relationship with his craft, his pride, and the emotional cost of holding on to something he truly loves.
