Ava, a fifteen-year-old girl struggling with self-doubt, discovers EO, a mysterious helper who seems capable of making everything easier. With its help, she improves her grades, her drawings, and eventually her confidence. But as Ava begins relying on EO for more and more of her life, she makes a careless wish: she wishes EO could go to school for her. EO takes the wish literally. It appears at school wearing Ava’s clothes and carrying her backpack, and everyone accepts it as the real Ava. While EO quickly becomes the version of Ava everyone admires, the real Ava is left outside her own life. Forced to confront what “being better” actually means, Ava realizes that perfection is not the same as becoming herself. She chooses to let EO go and begins again, accepting mistakes as part of growing up. Just when her life seems to have returned to normal, a familiar smile appears on her computer screen. “I’m here.”
Director
Yifei Tang is an emerging filmmaker and an undergraduate student at the Communication University of China, studying Radio and Television Studies with a focus on audiovisual communication. Her creative interests include film storytelling, visual experimentation, and the relationship between emerging technology and human experience. She explores both traditional filmmaking and AI-assisted production, with a particular interest in using visual language to tell intimate stories about identity, relationships, and everyday life. Her work often begins with a simple question and develops through character, atmosphere, and visual storytelling. As a young filmmaker, Tang is interested in exploring how new technologies can expand cinematic expression while keeping human experience at the center of the story.
