About the film
Štěpán wants to leave the apartment he shares with his girlfriend Julia and her father Hynek, an ageing musician whose drinking and unsolicited opinions have made their coexistence unbearable. As their relationships unravel, the film being made about them begins to lose control. Clapperboards and commands to “cut” and “action” interrupt the story. Actors step out of character, the crew abandons its instructions and Hynek sparks a rebellion when the production tries to censor his foul language. The boundary between fiction and reality gradually disappears, drawing personal conflicts, creative frustration and violence into a destructive revolt against the film itself.
Director
I’m a director, screenwriter and dramaturg in film and theatre. I place a strong emphasis on concept, not only in my own projects but also in event photography and video production. “Through my work, I enjoy uncovering humour where we take ourselves too seriously. I play with characters, situations, space and atmosphere - whether creating my own stories or capturing fleeting moments at live events.” My experience comes from film sets, schools, theatre rehearsals and developing ideas on my own or with others. All of this has been part of my own projects or my work at the Karlín Music Theatre. These experiences gave rise to ANYMANE.PRODUCTIONS and the TAK i TAK art collective.
