About the film
Gal (25) witnesses his father being murdered by a paramilitary group protecting a geothermal energy company. Armed with a karinding, a traditional Sundanese musical instrument left behind by his father, Gal continues his search for justice. But no one in the village believes him, as they are more afraid of the paramilitary group. One day, while playing his karinding, Gal and the villagers are drawn into the realm of their ancestors, where they encounter Aul, a mythical being with the head of a wolf and a spiritual force that has long been exploited by the paramilitary group. The ancestral spirits of the forest guardians, known as Aul, are summoned through the sound of the karinding and possess the villagers. Gal and the villagers eventually defeat the paramilitary group, restoring the villagers' strength and belief in themselves to stand against the power of the company.
