Sinopsis

After Us is a poetic music film exploring solitude, memory, and the traces left behind by human existence. Set among the ancient ruins of Dougga and the forests of Téboursouk, Tunisia, the film follows an invisible presence moving through forgotten landscapes, where time seems suspended and silence becomes a language of its own. Accompanied by Hawess, a Tunisian Bedouin folk song reimagined through a contemporary musical approach, the film creates a dialogue between sound, nature, heritage, and human absence. Through cinematic imagery and atmospheric storytelling, After Us transforms landscapes into emotional spaces, reflecting on what remains when everything else has disappeared.

Acerca de la película

After Us is a visual and musical journey through forgotten places, ancient memories, and the silence of landscapes shaped by time. Filmed in the archaeological site of Dougga and the forests surrounding Téboursouk, Tunisia, the film explores the invisible relationship between human presence and the spaces that remain after it. At the heart of the film is a solitary spirit wandering through vast, almost deserted environments. Moving between ancient architecture, natural landscapes, and traces of civilization, this presence seems disconnected from time, as if searching for something that no longer exists. There is no conventional narrative or dialogue; instead, the story unfolds through images, movement, atmosphere, and music. The film is accompanied by Hawess, a Tunisian Bedouin folk composition by Youssef Oueslati, blending traditional musical identity with a contemporary sensibility. The music becomes an emotional extension of the landscapes, connecting cultural memory with the feeling of solitude. Through a minimalist cinematic language, natural environments, and atmospheric cinematography, After Us considers the fragility of human existence and the permanence of nature and history. Rather than telling a story about an ending, After Us invites the viewer to experience what comes after: the silence, the memory, and the spaces that continue to exist beyond us.
