Classic CBS TV Show Bloopers of the 1950’s – Part 2 of 2
November 14th, 2009
This film was not produced to be broadcast over the air, but was instead a collection of outtakes, goofs, and other mishaps and comic pieces meant to entertain CBS affiliates at one of their annual meetings. The highlight of this half of the movie is from the Red Skelton Show, in which Red and Jack Albertson have their sketch blow up when the cow featured in the bit does what cows do — and I don’t mean “give milk.” There is another part where they show the power of film editing by using clips from various TV shows (and even a brief clip from Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho”) whereby those clips are turned into an ad for a fictional alcoholic drink through clever cutting, voiceover naration and comic sound effects. The sound editing of Jame’s Arness’ closing speech is another classic as well.
