In 2010 I couldn’t watch tv, then when I finally get to watch tv again in 2011 it’s like bam! Almost everything is widescreen. I own a full screen television set, and it can’t catch the entire it can’t show the entire show because it would be missing parts.
I live in the U.S. and I just wanted to know when was the exact date (if any) that tv shows start to be in widescreen format?

The first show I personally remember was Angel, back around 2004. Other shows may have done it before that, but I remember it being a fairly big deal at the time. A full-screen TV won’t miss anything, it’ll just have black bars on the top and bottom of the screen to preserve the aspect ratio.

As compared to just "in mono." It means both side speakers are used with different volumes(say someone yells something far to the left of the screen, the left speaker is louder than the right.) With mono, there is no difference in volume between both speakers.

On the television show LOST they use sounds to transition from one scene in the past to one scene in the future even alternate reality scenes. I was wondering in the " movie/show making business" what this transition is called if indeed it does have a name.

I am very much aware of the Shakespearean themes in Titanic and Batman and I could list a hundred other films with Shakespearean themes. But I did not ask for movies, I specifically asked for television shows! I wish people would actually read the question before answering.

Shakespeare used a large number of varied themes in his work, most if not all of which have also been used in some way or another both before and since. For example, the theme of the corrosive effect of guilt, found in Macbeth, is also apparent in Poe’s The Telltale Heart. The theme of the loneliness of the hero, in Henry V, is also found in Batman. The theme of lovers whose backgrounds are different, used in Othello, is also found in the movie Titanic.

Shakespeare’s plot elements are also sometime used. The plot device of the difficult elder sister and the nice younger sister from The Taming of the Shrew is used intentionally in the movie/TV show 10 Things I Hate About You (which also may demonstrate the theme of "people who hate love who fall in love anyway" found in Much Ado About Nothing))

"Sons of Anarchy," has elements of Hamlet and MacBeth. The main character, Jax, is like Hamlet. His biological father was (it is assumed) murdered by Clay, who then married his mother Gemma and became like a father to Jax. Jax’s father used the be the head of the motorcycle club (the king) and now Clay is. Jax is repeatedly referred to as "the prince," (like Hamlet) as he is the vice president of the club. Clay and Gemma’s names start with the same 2 letters as Claudius and Gertrude, the characters they mirror from Hamlet.

Jax is "haunted" by the ghost of his father in the form of a journal his father left behind, wherein he questions the decisions the outlaw motorcycle gang has made and expresses his hope for a new, more peaceful path for the club.

Jax struggles with what to do about Clay, who he suspects was involved in his father’s death. Clay also questions whether he will have to kill Jax, as Jax is gaining influence in the club and threatens Clay’s power.

The mother Gemma is also a lot like Lady MacBeth. She’s tough, manipulative and has a lot of blood on her hands, but every move she makes she sees as being for her family and the motorcycle club.
