What movies and television shows have made the most impact on society and why? How has that impact been felt?

Brian’s Song and Philadelphia really made the world wake up and start learning about HIV and AIDS, instead of panicking.

Philadelphia was also one of the first movies that I can remember have a gay character as the lead, and showed that gay people aren’t really that different than straight people. They just sleep next to someone different at night.

You need to install a Mac compatible TV Tuner. USB would probably be the best approach.

Is it wrong to download television shows from the net at no cost?

What is your opinion about downloading television shows, movies, and music over the internet at no cost? Do you think it is morally wrong? Is it illegal? Does it break copyright laws? Does it depend on what country you live in?

I would like for you to give your opinion on how you feel about this.

Yes this is wrong. It’s no different than walking into a music store, putting a CD under your shirt and walking out without paying for it. You are taking someone else’s hard work and are not giving them their just due. It is both illegal and immoral.

How would I search for classic television shows?

I am doing a search, to try to find my favorite television shows, on D.V.D., N-O-T downloads. Some of the titles I seek include 1) A-Team-George Peppard, Mr. T, Dirk Benedict/ 2) S.W.A.T. Forrest Tucker (?) (1970’s), 3) Ironside-Raymond Burr.

If I want to find these shows, on D.V.D., how should I enter searches, for the "classic" versions, and not the "remakes"?

you should try Tvshowsondvd.com- they have a search feature and have the best up to date news on dvd releases

What television shows would you suggest for me?

I love Supernatural and Vampire Diaries, I watched Angel for quite some time. I’ve seen every single episode of Charmed, and I’m anxiously waiting for True Blood to start back up. I watched Moonlight until they cancelled it. I like supernatural shows mostly, but will occasionally watch a regular drama series if it’s good. For example, I’m in the middle of watching The Closer.

What television shows do you think I might like? I *must* be able to watch it online, or download it somewhere.

Thanks!

Lost is supernatural or I should say mythological, mystery, romance, puzziling, action, but watch every episode and dont blink or you will be confused and Lost.

www.tv-video.net.

you may also like smallville, or Ghost whisperer but it seems you are into vampire type movies there aren’t a lot of those around. basically just hang out at the sci-fi channel.

How do television shows work?

May 20th, 2010

I understand that when television shows are filmed, hey are then edited in an editing suite until the final product is available. What I would like to know is how the television show is then given to the networks that broadcast the show, how it is played so we can watch it, and how it is transported to different states, or even different countries so they can watch it on their networks. Thank you so much if you can help. :D
Thank you, but actually how are the shows received and played by other stations. Like, how are re runs played? Are the shows recorded onto the channel’s library? Please Help!!

Shows haven’t been "filmed" since the early 1970’s. Most TV stations don’t even have a film chain around to play back a film anymore.

Now days, most of the shows are recorded in a digital format (either tape or directly onto a video server). They are edited in a Non Linear editing system (e.g. Final Cut Pro) and then played back from video servers. Distribution to other stations is usually by satellite although there is some by fiber.

EDIT: The programs are owned by the program’s producers. For a show to be "re-run" the station or network must have a contract with the show’s owner. The show to be rerun is distributed through satellite or fiber distribution channels. Occasionally, if it’s a really old show (like M*A*S*H) the station my get a tape via FedEx.

Don’t some television shows create an unrealistic standard for maternal affection?

They led me to expect that my mother would love me, and I was traumatized with disappointment. Shouldn’t the government ban shows that depict loving mothers from public television?

I know, right? Where are all the shows where the mom chases the kid around the back yard with a belt?
