Why are alot of shows first episode called pilot?

Like for instance the offices first episode was called pilot. Others are glee, that 70s show and others that I can’t think of right now. Please tell me lol!

Because the pilot steers the show in its direction.

Theres an episode, I cant remember which one, that has a cutaway of Peter sitting at the end of a catwalk and he hits on all the models coming out and walking towards him. then when the models return to go backstage, peter yells and gets pissed at them. WHAT EPISODE IS THAT FROM?

Producer Monty’s shooting of ‘Do Or Die’ goes horribly wrong when one of he contestants is killed midway through a stunt. The CID intervenes and it turns out that the girl’s death was no mere accident but a well-planned murder. The prime suspect in the case, Monty’s family is also abducted in the meanwhile. Further along the investigation, another dead body is recovered by the CID. With two murders to solve, will the CID nail the killer before he/she strikes again?
The first thrilling investigative series on Indian Television, is today one of the most popular shows on Sony Entertainment Television. Dramatic and absolutely unpredictable, C.I.D. has captivated viewers over the last eleven years and continues to keep audiences glued to their television sets with its thrilling plots and excitement. Also interwoven in its fast paced plots are the personal challenges that the C.I.D. team faces with non-stop adventure, tremendous pressure and risk, all in the name of duty.
The series consists of hard-core police procedural stories dealing with investigation, detection and suspense. The protagonists of the serial are an elite group of police officers belonging to the Crime Investigation Department of the police force, led by ACP Pradyuman [played by the dynamic Shivaji Satam]. While the stories are plausible, there is an emphasis on dramatic plotting and technical complexities faced by the police. At every stage, the plot throws up intriguing twists and turns keeping the officers on the move as they track criminals, led by the smallest of clues.

She was amazing the way she kept working it at the runway.

That was in the finale of Cycle 8, with Jaslene Gonzales and Natasha Galinka walking in the runway show. Natasha is the one that had her skirt start to slide down, and she just let it fall, and walked right out of it. Jaslene was the one that eventually ended up winning the competition that Cycle.
