Duuuuuuude! Because the "fat guy, hot wife" formula works, Duuuuuuude! Those shows you mentioned, plus "Still Standing," "Grounded for Life," "According to Jim," just to name a few others.
Plus, look at it this way: I’ve known gorgeous women who date gorgeous guys who treat them like crap; when a gorgeous woman dates an average or even dorky-looking guy, they get treated like queens because the guys know how lucky they are to get a hot wife! Think about it, Girl Duuuuuuudes: would you rather be seen with a guy who is prettier than you are, and completely obsessed and vain about it; or with a guy who makes YOU look like a goddess?!? When you walk into a room, would you rather have all eyes be on YOU, or him?

I am embarrassed for Kelsey Grammer as I was with his last failed show. This one has terrible writing, worse acting and the canned laughter is unbearable. Only the girl who plays the daughter seems believable.
Patricia Heaton may have a hit. Some pretty funny situations, good acting by all the cast and believable. More of a fun exaggeration of real life.

I can’t believe that Kelsey Grammer actually read the script to one of those shows before he agreed to do it. There’s really not much of a story there. I give it four episodes before they can it. The Patricia Heaton one has potential, but I don’t think it’s a winner yet.

It seems to me that our political leadership deserves a measure of respect, and that late night comedy shows undermine that respect with constant, 24 hours criticism and mockery, while offering little in return for helping the country. The comedian or performer steps out, takes a jab, and walks away, with no contribution or assistance in substantive terms.
I do and the sad part is that many people think this all is fact and form their political opinions from these clowns and can’t tell what is comedy and what is fact then the go out and vote. Sad.

I have heard many jokes and sketches about the Titanic sinking, where hundreds of children were drowned. None yet about Aberfan or Dunblane. How long before some sicko decides it’s ok?
2 weeks? Jay Leno once said he didn’t know when it was okay to be funny again after 9/11, so he made a soft joke and there were some giggles, so that’s when he knew it was okay.
The American University Muslim Students’ Association in the DC region put on one of the funniest and most enjoyable shows on Friday, April 17th 2009! The event was notoriously called the Muslim Ladies Gone Wild! Comedy Show and featured stand-ups and skits in front of an audience of over 250 people! Those audience members included students, parents, children, community members, teachers, advisors, and people of all faiths.
The idea for this show began when we noticed not only how underrepresented Muslim women were in the community in terms of artistic expression, but also that Muslim women tend to receive the most prejudice by society and by other Muslims! We knew this was a big issue and comedy may be a good starting point to show people that not only are Muslim women NOT inherently oppressed, but that they are intelligent, creative, and different.
The show featured 18 performers, including AU students, MSA members from George Mason University and the University of Maryland. The seasoned professional, Sadiya Durrani, who has performed stand-up comedy multiple times, including opening for the Allah Made Me Funny Tour, also performed at the show.
